Evinrude Powerhead Bolts

I need to access a connection rod / piston assembly in my Evinrude 1977 235 H. P.  Where are the bolts that hold the Powerhead on and how do I get to them?

p.s. - do you know what the small pinhole is that is above and to the right of the
gearcase water intake?

Thank You,
Julian E. Rice

Julian:

They are under the lower cowl - remove the lower cowl and they are around the base. Five per side and 3 more in the rear by the exhaust manifold. Sounds like you may be biting off a bigger project than you realize. There are needle bearings and such in the powerhead and I wouldn't attempt this unless you have the experience.
