Exhaust Bypass Valve

Randy,

I just discovered your website and I enjoyed reading everyone’s questions and it seemed your answers were very helpful to them.

My question: Land and Sea used to have an exhaust bypass valve (dump valve) but they discontinued it.  It attached to your speedometer hose and when you exceeded 50mph a valve would open and your exhaust would exit the motor above the water.  They did not have any information on who else might make a similar product.  Just wondering if you could help!

Or, are there any modifications that I could make to my motor to open up the exhaust a little bit (don't mind cutting or drilling)?  The motor is a 1991 Evinrude XP 200hp V6.

Thanks for any help or advice you might be able to give!!

Josh

Josh,

Aside from making noise, you will not see any performance gain that you can measure. You may see a performance drop as a matter of fact. Leave it alone and work on the setup. You will be better served and the neighbors will like you for it.
