Jackplate for Fishing

I have a 21 Kenner Center console without tunnel.  My sons are trying to talk me into putting a jack plate on the boat so we can get to shallower areas chasing tarpon and snook etc.  It would be attached to a 175 hp Yamaha outboard 1990 year model.  Is this a smart move?

Greg,

It would be an advantage for your use. Run a water pressure gauge and a 4 or 5 blade prop to use all the advantage. Lots of flats fishermen do just what you are talking about.
