Johnson Stalls

I just bought a boat that came with a 98'  Johnson 115 spl. It runs ok some of the time but most of the time it stalls out at 1500-2000 rpm when trying to pull a skier out of the water. I had some trouble stating it at first so I turned up the idle to 900 rpm. Now my only issue is the stalling. I did notice that when I put it in to gear the rpm's go down 300-400. Is this normal or do I need to adjust it? Any help with this would be great thank you for your time.

Sounds like your idle air bleeds are too large. This will cause the “bog” and an erratic idle. This is just guessing since I am not able to run it, but you need to locate a local mechanic who is not afraid of jet carbs.
