Mariner 135 Bogging

Randy, My brothers 1997 mariner 135hp outboard starts ok and idles, but when throttling up begins to bog down and quits. Restarting is easy but the same thing happens every time. Spark plugs are new and the fuel filter seems ok. Where do I start to figure out what is wrong?

Bob,

With the limited info I have on his motor, I'd clean the carbs (we get lots of gummed up mains from storage around here) and then look at the stator. The hi-speed side could be weak.
