2000 Mercury XR6 150 Overheating

The temperature warning horn on my xr6 has started going off under load.  Usually pulling with skiers, I am able to run about 3 or 4 minutes and the warning horn sounds.  I am getting a solid water stream out of my engine, so it does not seem to be the impeller.  Any other ideas on what may cause this?

Thanks for the help

Brent,

Change the water pump assembly first. All the components, not just the impeller. We have had some engines this year with the same problem and the exhaust plate gaskets have failed allowing exhaust air to enter the cooling water. Check this if the problem remains after the pump.
