Regal Engine Overheating

We have a new Regal, just little over a year old and warranty has expired after a year.  The boat has ran fine until just now when we were out on 4th July.  The boat ran fine then we were at approx 30-35 MPH and the engine overheated and sound went off.  Turned the boat off it started up and it was back down to 150-170.  It stayed there until we hit a speed of 30mph for less than a minute.  It overheated again.  Went to the boat store where we bought the boat and we thought it was the thermostat and the guy said no itís the impeller and we bought a new one and it did it again.  We put in neutral and run it and the temp goes down.  What could this be, could you help us?

Thanks
Cheryl

Cheryl,

Always put in a complete water pump kit. Most likely the plate or housing is warped and will not pump properly.
