Stratos 201 Pro
I have a 1989 Stratos 201 pro, the boat is in excellent condition so when the tired 200 Johnson got weak I elected to replace the engine instead of replacing the whole boat. I put a 99 model 2.5 mercury promax on it that I bought used with 97 hours on. I also have a hydraulic jack plate on it The engine came with a trophy 23 prop when I got it, they had it on a large bay type boat. I decided to try the prop to see how it performed, it had a great hole shot but only around 65 mph on gps. I know it should do more but really donít know what direction to start in. The engine is running about 6200 at 65mph. I would really appreciate any help you can give me.Thanks, James Wright
have a friend with a boat like yours and it runs about 73-75mph. Put the
propshaft centerline at about 2" below the pad at zero trim. If the
trophy still won't run the boat harder then try a new prop of 23-25 in.
pitch. The boat we have here runs a 3 blade 25 Yamaha pro series so a
lazer 2 or something similar would work for you. If the boat still won't
go then lower the motor about an inch. I'd say that it can't pick the boat
up and needs more lever-arm. See if this stuff gets you to the mid 70's.
