Thunderbird/Evinrude 225 HO Prop

I have owned this boat (18' Thunderbird Formula) with 2004 Evinrude 225 HO (Lightning Gearcase) since NEW. I have had a 1983 Evinrude 235 with 23" SST prop (Max speed light load = 66 mph from standard pitot tube/OMC Speedo).

- I have a 1-/2 inch offset Hydraulic Jack plate Marine Engineering).

- Boat is somewhat heavy for its size (Fair amount of stainless steel and iron in transom area).

I now have the 225 Evinrude HO (1.86/1). What prop do you recommend? The Formula 18' has 24 degree dead-rise.

This prop does not appear to have enough pitch (slower speed for same engine RPM); I haven't been able to run hard yet, only 10 hours on engine).

Try a 24 Raker, as this will lock up the motor better and give you better top end than the SST. Have some extra tip cup put in the SST as it will make a good second prop.
