Vector/Merc 150 V6 Holeshot

Hi Randy, I recently bought an 86 vector with an 86 Merc 150 black max. I have a few questions, my biggest problem is getting out of the hole, even with a 19 pitch it takes forever. Once it gets on plane its scary fast! The motor is mounted less than an inch above the transom. I figure I need to mount the motor higher or install a jackplate.  I want to use it mainly as a ski boat, but the way it is right now it would never pull up a skier. Also where can I get a new speedometer for it? I would like to install a tripod, do you know where I could purchase that? And the trim gauge doesn’t work, any advice on that?

Any advice would help. Thanks for your time.

The ’86 2.0 litre 150 was not noted for punch. Purchase a 12 ¾ x 20 Merc Hi Five (this prop is for the 3-4 cylinder engines) and your hole shot will rock. The Speedo and Tripod can be picked up locally or go on line to Overton’s and such.
