Vegas XT Skier
88 Merc 200 , not original powerhead, with new crank (spines off), new rings, heads cc'd.
This boat has 30 gal bow tank. There are no fins on the bottom. It is used for recreational slalom skiing and it tracks and planes great but also doing some river & lake cruising. It also turns nice and flat at 40mph +. Use a 21' HiFive top speed about 56mph with 2 (about 320 lbs) people in front seats, skis, vest and 15 gals gas.
Would like more all around prop when not skiing.
I thought about taking out the bow tank or moving it back about 6''.
I have a 28'' Ron Hill chopper that works good but haven't GPS’d it. The lock ears are worn down and have filed it down.
Have 25'' Michigan 3 blade doesn't have much take off for skiing or any loads.
Would like to get in the 70's, so what would be some good props?
How would putting in a rear tank change handling?
How about a Triad V21 with 225 ProMax for skiing and all around boating?
I enjoy this column, a lot of good info.
a guy in MPLS with the same basic rig. We ran a 4 blade 24 turbo prop and
the boat does mid to low 70's. Even with the bow tank (not full). The boat
ski's quite well with that prop also. A Yamaha V-Max 4 prop is made by
Turbo so If you find one at a Yam dealer you may get it cheap. The V-21 /
Pro Max is a great rig. Little bigger than the Vegas but similar to ski
