How much is too much for Viper?

I have a 78 15' Viper that I bought with an 80hp Merc on it. It does just about 50 now but I was wanting a little more outta it. What size motor would you suggest? I found a 150 Merc for it but it says it's only rated for a 120. I was told that the boat would be fine with the 150 on it but I'd have to work out the chinewalk. What would you suggest to help me with that? Thanks for you time.

A 150 mounted on the transom, but bolted up 2 1/2 inches, with dual cable steering works good and is a lot of fun. The steering is very important and solid mounts are also a must. Without those 2, it would be a handful.
